Back to school, Hurricane Issac, and the Zoo

The girls started back to school last week. Colbie will be going twice a week for 4 hours, and Josie goes to preschool 3 days a week. Josie was hesitant as I knew she would be, but by day 3 there were no tears. She loves to learn. Her teacher's name is Mrs. Shannon and we already love her. This year she even has a syllabus! Colbie's did well, too, and even napped at school which surprised me! Her teachers are Mrs. Nelda and Mrs. Theresa and we love them, too.

Attempt at a picture with their lunchboxes =)

Hurricane Issac brought us lots and lots of rain, for several days. The cabin fever got so bad at one point, we had to take it outside (redneck style).

After all of the rain, we were ready to get out on Saturday for a trip to the Hattiesburg Zoo. They have done alot of work on the zoo the past year or so, and I was pleasantly surprised. It's just right for little kids because it doesn't take too long to get through it.

Posing with some sort of monkey(?), see his tail?

The jaguar was beautiful. He seemed tame to us, but we asked the zoo keeper who said he is the meanest animal there and that he was just stalking us.

Me and the girls riding on an ant! Colbie likes to sing the part of "The Ants go marching in"... boom boom boom boom, boom, boom boom boom!

Checking out the ostrich and zebras.

There were big tortoises (don't call them a turtle in front of the zoo keeper).

The goats were very frisky and playful! We loved watching the goats.

Too busy to smile for a picture...

And you can't take a trip to the zoo without a ride on the train!
