Our little homecoming maid!

On our way to the mountains, I got a text that Josie had been nominated to be one of the 2nd grade homecoming maids! This came as a shock because #1 I did not know 2nd grade had homecoming maids and #2 how she was nominated as she had just moved to this new school and didn't know many people yet!? Come to find out, 2nd grade is the first year that the football players vote and she was voted.

She was excited but nervous. She had lots of questions. She wasn't sure she wanted to do it. Colbie told her that she guessed she would do it since Josie wasn't sure but we told her that's now how that works. Josie was told to choose a football player to be her escort. With the help of her coach and her teacher, we chose this sweet little guy who is in her class, Trey Hardman. Now she was reeeeally nervous because surprisingly, it is no secret that Josie is a little boy crazy.

The peprally at school

They got to perform a cheer and their dance, too!

Me and Ryleigh!

Beautiful Austyn

The day of their Homecoming game, we decorated Hudi's car (it helps to know people with cool cars). Josie cheered, and then it was time for the ceremony.

Hoot Hoot was the BEST chauffeur! This man is truly the best.

Throwing candy was definitely their favorite part!

And then they received medals

This part was cute. After doing all this big boy/girl stuff they suddenly looked 7 again when they started comparing medals.

Trey was just perfect and has the sweetest family, too.

Ryleigh and Colbie were her #1 fans and that makes my heart happy.

After it was all said and done, Josie decided that it was fun being homecoming maid, afterall. She wished it wasn't over and I am so happy she got the experience. She was also a star in the homecoming parade through downtown Sumrall, but unfortunately it rained so hard I didn't get many good pictures.
