Riviera Maya, MX - Part 1

Oh my goodness. Riviera Maya... I LOVE YOU!
This trip goes down on the top of my favorite list (well... it's a tie with Disneyworld). The location was amazing... but I think the reason we loved this trip so is because Josie and Colbie were there. Liza Lou stayed at home because let's face it, 1 year olds can be a handful. We had been to Mexico twice sans kids (which was wonderful) but enjoying the trip with them was even better. We stayed at Grand Velas and they have got vacations figured out, my friends.

We had delayed flights all day which was a major bummer. The girls were good sports, though. We didn't roll into the resort until 9 or 10pm. Pulling into that place was like nothing I've ever seen. Huge white gates opened to a lush, tropical paradise with a small road that looked like we were in the middle of Jurassic park. As soon as we stepped off the bus, we were greeted with cold wet towels and a cocktail.

You can imagine the girls were feeling pretty special at this point. Colbie flaunted her glass a little extra.

The next morning called for room service. Pepsi and 7up for breakfast? Sure! It's vacation!

Open air hallways...

We scoped out the pool and beach situation while Joey had to go to a quick meeting.

"Black cookie" donuts and fruit for our second breakfast!

A stroll down the beach

Behind the girls you will see the swim up bar. Can you imagine how happy the girls were to float over there and order their own daiquiri?!? They were definitely in their element. Another bonus of this trip was having the Ladners there!

We took a bus to Playa Del Carmen one morning for a little shopping. It was fun but HOT.

It wasn't long until we were wishing we were swimming and eating guacamole by the pool again... so back we went. After getting a Mexican babydoll of course.

Josie wanted to take a pic of us.

The girls looooved the kids club. They were so much fun. They took them out to eat (on the resort), painted faces, braided their hair, took them to a fire show on the beach... all kinds of stuff. There was more than one occasion we had to beg them to come swim with us instead of go to the kids club. They went one night so we could go have an adult dinner.

And a photo shoot on our balcony...

More on this trip in part 2!
