We had the most wonderful trip to Key Biscayne, FL last week. Joey had to do a little work but us girls got to do a lot of play! Key Biscayne is a small island right off of Miami. When Joey decided he wanted us to drive (with the girls I remind you) instead of fly I thought he was nuts. It is 12 hours away and these girls have never rode further than Orange Beach! So the plan was to leave at 2:30am, drive to Gainesville (8 hours) and stop somewhere with a pool to spend the night.
Everything went as planned, kind of. Josie did just what we had explained... she covered up with her blanket, put on her neck pillow, and slept until about Pensacola. Colbie on the other hand asked a lot of questions, and eventually got quiet but never did go back to sleep. She was as quiet as a mouse and just looked out the window. I was ok with that. Just figured it would hit the fan eventually.
We stopped at Cracker Barrel in Tuscaloosa for breakfast and met Deedy and Pa there. It was a nice break. We took our time, then loaded back up. Long story short, the girls did so well we kept extended how much further we were going to go until we were basically were there. They did not complain, and we did not stop. At one point Joey and I both needed to stop but we just pressed on because the girls were so content. We decided to stop at Ft. Lauderdale (it was 5pm by this point) , which is just about 30 mins from Miami. We went swimming in the pool and got a good nights rest.
Breakfast before heading out the next morning. Fruit and cereal for Josie, and dry cereal and cantaloupe for Colbie.
We had an extra day since we did all of our driving the day before. We decided that was good time to go to the Miami Seaquarium. As we pulled into Miami, Joey may or may not have made me turn on Will Smith's Welcome To Miami =)
The aquarium was HOT! But we got to see Flipper, a whale show, and a sea lion show. The girls look like they are wet but they were just sweating down!
Stingrays are always a hit!
Lolita was beautiful!
It was funny when she splashed sections of people and see these women got ticked off about their hair and make-up... we got a huge kick out of that!
Aren't they cute?!?
And our final destination... the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne. So beautiful!
They provided dinner the first night and we had a fun time exploring. I had two worn out little girls and we all slept really good that night!
I have tons of pics from the trip... stay tuned!
